Facebook is getting ready to revamp its sign in/sign up page, i.e. the homepage if you're not already logged into your account, possibly to encourage more people to connect. It's got one billion active users right now, so adding more is a tall order.
The site is already testing two new layouts complete with new graphics. Thankfully, Facebook is ditching the boring old look and instead going for a more modern welcome page. The new page uses a large image as a background and classier looking input boxes and buttons. One of the images tested is a computer-generated vista, the other is an image of a couple, one that you've seen in Facebook screenshots before. Facebook confirmed the test, but said it was just that, a test. The images may not be final, or may not be the only ones, but the new layout is most definitely coming. Judging by the speed Facebook rolls out features, some people may still be getting the old page a year from now.
